Facts and Opinions
Last meeting, We've discussed about facts and opinions. By the way, Do you know the difference between these two? Fact is a statement or assertion that can be proven by direct experience. It can be proven by statistics, records, datas, etc. While an opinion expresses someone's attitude, feeling, belief, preferences, biases or an idea that cannot be proven true or false.
these are the types of Opinion:
1.) Hypothesis- an assumption made in an attempt to explain an observation
2.)Theory- opinion that is widely believed explanation for a group of observation.
3.) Assumption- opinion that is improvable prediction.
4.) Value- is a claim that is based on someone's belief.
5.)Exaggeration- is one that embellishes the facts often to sway the readers.
In this lesson, I learned how to determined one situation if it is an opinion or a fact, because if it is an opinion it has some words to find out like believe, perhaps, probably, good, best, most, amazing, etc. We should also know that a fact is not the opposite of an opinion but they are simply types of statement. If a fact is untrue or false it doesn't turn into an opinion and if an opinion is believed by everyone, it doesn't necessarily means a fact. :)
